MLB Teams

Founded in 1903, MLB consists of 30 teams, split between the American League (AL) and the National League (NL). With the two leagues mergers, the World Series was also established pitting the champions of each league in a postseason play-off. The World Series quickly became one of America's most popular rituals.

Baseball can be traced to 1744, in an English children’s book A Little Pretty Pocket-Book, by John Newberry which contains a poem and illustration depicting a children's game dubbed base-ball. The game depicted evolved into rounders in the Old World and Baseball in America.
