PU leather is a synthetic, plastic leather made out of thermoplastic polymers, Polyurethane (PU). It is an economical and generally vegan alternative to real leather. It is considered in many cases to be a more versatile and durable alternative.
PU leather is a fake leather substitute made of thermoplastic polymers. Because PU leather is made out of plastic and not animal hides, like genuine leather, it is considered vegan. Even though PU leather itself is vegan, some products can contain animal-derived products. If the vegan aspect is imperative it is advisable that you check the labels to be certain it’s 100% plastic.
Only leather made with 100% animal hide is considered genuine leather.
