In 1898 Alamogordo was actually two towns. Alamogordo was populated by Americans and its twin city Chihuahua was populated primarily by Mexicans. The two were merged in 1912 and became the incorporated city of Alamogordo, New Mexico. They celebrated their Centennial 100 year anniversary in 2012.
