Common Trout of North America and Trout Fishing Tackle Guide

Officially there are five North American trout species. There are also several More species of Char which although not actually trout, they are commonly referred to as trout, and their appearance and habits are very similar. Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, Gila Trout, Cutthroat Trout, and Mexican Golden Trout are the 5 trout species. The char species commonly called trout are Lake Trout, Brook Trout, Bull Trout, and Blueback Trout aka Sunapee. 

Each species has their own unique characteristics but also share share many common habits with other trout. Knowing their habits, habitats, and characteristics is critical when trying to find them.  Knowing what baits and tackle needed to catch them is also essential.
